Travis M. Owens (He/Him) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Founder of Driftwood Counseling LLC in the state of Florida. He is a Florida local, and First-Gen American with family roots in Ontario, Canada. Travis received his undergraduate (BSW) in 2021 and master’s degree (MSW) in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University in 2023, where he studied Child Welfare and Addiction.

Travis is transparent about being a neurodivergent therapist with lived experience. He has worked for
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in West Palm Beach, FL as a Certified Peer Specialist (CRPS) for 4 years, where he worked side-by-side with neurodivergent children and young adults to link them to mental health services in the area, and received additional training in Motivational Interviewing (MI) through a grant provided by the Farris Foundation in 2021. As a Peer Specialist, he used his own lived experience to create support and hope for clients in hopes that it may shift the tides of their well-being as it did for him. He has also worked for ChildNet as a Child-Welfare Case Manager (CWCM) and a Parent Visitation Specialist during his undergraduate internship where he monitored parent-child relationships for safety. Before starting his MSW program, he worked as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) for Butterfly Effects in Boca Raton, FL. After graduating with his MSW in 2023, he worked at a leading dual-diagnosis treatment facility, Lifeskills Behavioral Health (Previously Lifeskills South Florida) in Delray Beach, FL as an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) primary therapist. He ran Men’s Trauma therapy groups twice a week in addition to other therapeutic groups (CBT, DBT, Lifeskills, Interpersonal Relationships, and Relapse Prevention) while seeing Veterans, Indigenous people, and Neurodivergent clients with complex issues, often stemming from unresolved trauma.

Travis has taken additional training in evidenced-based approaches such as
Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) through EMDR Connect and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through Florida Atlantic University’s Certificate course with Dr. Landsman-Wohlsifer, Ph.D, LCSW in 2023.
